JAWiC Joins IWCA at World of Coffee Berlin 2019
Members of JAWiC attended World of Coffee 2019 in Berlin, along with members of IWCA from around the globe. JAWiC President Andrea Johnson, board member Lauren LeFranc, and consultant Jen Zariat met with representatives from organizations around the globe in a three-day whirlwind of fun and networking.
The highlight of the event was the IWCA reception, where we had a rare opportunity to engage with our fellow international members and friends in a casual space. Presentations by IWCA Executive Director Kellem Emanuele, Yuki Minami (IWCA Brasil), Ana Vizcaino (Finca La Esperanza, IWCA Guatemala), and others helped provide insight into the struggles and victories of our colleagues around the world.
Andrea and Jen also attended a cocktail reception hosted by the Embassies of Honduras and El Salvador to Berlin, sponsored by Rehm & Benecke Coffee, at which they connected more deeply with the coffee communities of Central America and Germany.
For such a short time, we were amazed how many people we met and were able to establish connections with, especially from the African coffee community. Looking forward to positive developments to be announced in the upcoming future…
